മീൻ മപ്പാസ് - fish in spicy coconut milk
This one is good with kerala rice, chappathis or appam. It's kind of like fish molly but with extra masala and also yellow in color.

- appr. 600 gms of fish ( I have used tilapia fillets)
- 3/4 of a medium sized onion, thinly sliced
- 3 tsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 1/4 tsp star anise powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 2 tsp ginger sliced thin
- 1 sprig curry leaves
- 2 Tbsp. vinegar
- 3 cups coconut milk squeezed from 3 cups shredded coconut (squeezed twice) , first and second milk separated.
- 2 tsp oil
- 1/4 of a small onion sliced for sautéing
- salt to taste
METHOD
- Put all the ingredients from 1-10 in a pan and mix nicely using your hands. Keep it covered for 30 minutes.
- This can be kept in fridge overnight too. Now add the second milk and boil for about 7 minutes until the fish is cooked and the onions are translucent.
- Now add the first milk , add salt and turn off the stove.
- Heat a pan with 2 tsp oil , when the oil is hot ,add the sliced onions and sate till brown. Add this to the curry.
- Also good with peas pulav or fried rice.
