TOMATO OMLETTE

tomato omlette
A nice and filling breakfast or evening time snack , that my mother makes.

INGREDIENTS

  1. 1 large egg
  2. 1 Tbsp water
  3. salt to taste
  4. 1/4 of a medium sized onion
  5. 1/4 of a medium sized tomato
  6. 1 green chili , seeds removed
  7. a pinch , garam masala
  8. 4 tsp oil
  9. Tomato ketchup
  10. 2 slices of bread

METHOD

  • Slice the onions , tomatoes and keep aside.
  • Using a fork , beat egg , water and salt.


  • Heat a 10 inch pan  on medium heat. When warm , add 2 tsp oil. When the oil is hot , add the beaten egg mixture. 
  • Swirl the pan , so that the mixture spreads around in a thin layer. Cover and keep for 1 minute.





  • After a minute the omlette will be cooked , no need to flip over. Transfer it to a plate.

  • In the same pan heat 2 tsp oil and put the slice onions and the green chili.

         


         
  • Sauté till slightly brown. Add salt . Add the sliced tomatoes. Stir , cover and cook for 1 minute. Open add a pinch of garam masala.



  • Layer this along the center line of the omelette. Top the layer with tomato ketchup . 




  •  Fold both the sides of the omelette towards the center.


  • Use the same pan to toast the bread slices.
  • Serve the omelette with the bread slices.


NOTES
  • Adding 1 Tbsp water to the beaten egg will make a softer omelet.
