BURGER with baked patties
INGREDIENTS
For the patties:
- 600 gms boneless chicken (I have used skinless, boneless chicken thighs)
- 1/4 cup each of finely chopped onions , capsicum
- 1/2 cup each of finely chopped carrots and cabbage
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 1 tsp pepper
- 2 green chilies , seeds removed and chopped finely
- 2 Tbsp chickpea flour(besan , kadalamav)
- salt to taste
For the burger:
- Sesame hamburger buns
- onion slices
- cucumber slices
- tomato slices
- tomato sauce or mayonnaise
- cherry tomatoes
- toothpicks
METHOD
- Cut the chicken into small pieces and put everything into the food processor with the chopper blade and pulse until nicely minced.
- Put the minced chicken into a bowl. Put in all the ingredients and mix thoroughly with your hand.
- Pre-heat an oven to 400 degree F for 15 minutes.
- Roll it into cutlet shape and put on a cooling rack , placed on a baking tray.
- Bake for 20 minutes.
- Placing on the rack and baking , helps in getting rid of the fat in the chicken.
- The rack is completely optional. It can be placed directly on the baking tray. Putting it directly on the tray ,browns the cutlet/patties on the bottom side , giving it a grilled look and taste.
- While the patties are baking , slice the onions , tomatoes , cucumbers and keep aside.
- When the patties are done , its time to assemble the burger. Take a plate , place the lower half of the bun on it . Place the patty , followed by the cucumber slices , then the tomatoes and then the onions , topped with tomato sauce or mayonnaise.
- Close it with the top slice of the bun . Center a cherry tomato and push a toothpick to keep it intact.
- If you are assembling burgers for a large party or potluck , set up a setting station of the buns , sliced veggies , cherry tomato and the sauces and assemble it.
