BEEF CURRY- pressure cooker recipe
INGREDIENTS
- 1 kg beef , chopped(I have used stew cut beef)
- onions, thinly sliced(200 gms.)
- 2 medium-sized tomatoes(150 gms)(next time skip the tomatoes)
- 2 Tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 turmeric powder
- 2 Tbsp. coriander powder
- 2 tsp. chili powder
- 1 tsp. pepper powder
- 2 tsp cumin powder
- 1-1/2 tsp perumjeerakam powder
- 1/4 tsp each of clove powder and cinnamon powder
- 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg powder
- 1/2 tsp fenugreek powder
- 1/2 tsp anise seed powder
- a few curry leaves
- lemon juice, as required(2 Tbsp.)
- 2 Tbsp oil
- salt to taste
- I used a Prestige pan Junior to make the curry.
- Heat the pan. When it is warm, add 2 Tbsp oil. When the oil is hot, add the chopped onions. Sauté for a while. Then add the ginger and garlic. Saute until the raw smell goes away.
- Sauté the onions till slightly brown, then add the spice powders and curry leaves. Stir for a minute ,and then add the chopped tomatoes.
- Put in the beef. Stir well, add salt, and pressure cook on high for 1 whistle and low for 5 minutes. Depending on the cooking time of the beef, cook longer.
NOTES
- If you use cooked beef to make the curry, use chopped garlic and ginger instead of paste.
- No need to reduce the onions if the cooked beef was cooked with onions. It gives good gravy consistency.
