BEEF CURRY- pressure cooker recipe
INGREDIENTS
- 1 kg beef , chopped(I have used stew cut beef)
- onions, thinly sliced(200 gms.)
- 2 medium sized tomatoes(150 gms)(next time skip the tomatoes)
- 2 Tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 turmeric powder
- 2 Tbsp. coriander powder
- 2 tsp. chili powder
- 1 tsp. pepper powder
- 2 tsp cumin powder
- 1-1/2 tsp perumjeerakam powder
- 1/4 tsp each of clove powder and cinnamon powder
- 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg powder
- 1/2 tsp fenugreek powder
- 1/2 tsp anise seed powder
- a few curry leaves
- lemon juice, as required(2 Tbsp.)
- 4 Tbsp oil(Reduce the oil if the type of beef cut has more fat)
- salt to taste
- I have used a prestige pan junior for making the curry.
- Heat the pan , when warm add 2 Tbsp oil, when the oil is hot add the chopped onions . Sauté for a while. Then add the ginger-garlic.Saute till the raw smell goes away.
- Sauté the onions till slightly brown , then add the spice powders and curry leaves. Stir for a minute and then add the chopped tomatoes.
- Put in the beef . Stir well, add salt and pressure cook on high for 1 whistle and cook on low for 5 minutes. Cook longer depending on the cooking time of the beef.
NOTES
- If you using cooked beef to make the curry, then use chopped garlic and ginger and not the paste.
