PEAS PULAV





It can be made in a very short time if you have frozen peas in the freezer.


INGREDIENTS
  1. Basmati rice soaked in water for 20 minutes - 1 cup
  2. frozen green peas - 1/4 cup
  3. Jeera powder - 1/4 tsp
  4. Garam masala - 1/4 tsp
  5. 1 and 1/2 tsp salt
  6. coriander leaves - 2 tsp
  7. onion - 1 tbsp chopped finely
  8. garlic - 1 clove, chopped finely
  9. oil -2Tbsp
  10. 5 cups water
  11. 3 to 4 bayleaves(optional)
METHOD
  • Bring 5 cups of water to boil in a saucepan. Put in the rice ,  bring to a boil. Add bay leaves , turn off the stove and keep it covered for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes , put the salt ,turn on the stove again , bring the rice to boil and again turn and keep it for 2 minutes. Then drain and keep aside.

  • Sauté onion and garlic in a cheena chatti.

  • When the onion and garlic are sautéed well ,add the peas along with the powders.

  • Cover and cook for 1 minute. Then add the leaves and  the cooked and salted rice. Don't mix now. Cover and keep for atleast 5 minutes.


  • Mix with a slotted steel spoon. Peas pulav is ready.
  • I make this usually for lunch box for both office and school.

NOTES
  • Mushrooms can be used instead of peas.
