KACHIYA MORU
Kachiya moru is the malayalam translation of seasoned buttermilk. This is an easy curry to make and does not need coconut like the pullisssery.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 Tbsp. oil
- 2 garlic cloves
- 2 Tbsp chopped onions
- 1 cup beaten curd(I have used store bought curd which is very thick, so 3/4 cup curd diluted with 1/4 cup will give 1 cup beaten curd)
- 1 cup water
- 1 green chili
- 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 dried red chili
- curry leaves
- 1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- salt as per taste(the salt also depends on the sourness of the curd, if the curd is very sour, reduce the salt)
METHOD
- Heat a wok on medium-high heat. When warm, add oil. When the oil is hot, add the mustard and fenugreek seeds. Let them splutter. Then add the chopped onions and saute for a few seconds. Add dried red chili and garlic. Saute for a few seconds. Then, add the turmeric powder, green chilies, and curry leaves.
- Add 1/2 cup water and bring to a boil. Turn off the stove and mix in the beaten curds. Keep stirring the moru continuously so that it does not curdle, even after turning off the stove. Add salt and check for taste.
